Jorge Menendez, our CEO and President, started working as a behavior technician in January of 2010 and his first case was a 6 year old boy who was non-vocal and exhibited a great number of problem behaviors such as task refusal, elopement, vocal and motor stereotypy, tantrums, severe food refusal, and would not communicate using words but only pointing and grabbing people by their arms. This was Jorge's first client and he was impacted by the lack of skills and the amount and severity of problem behaviors exhibited by this client. Mr. Menendez then started applying ABA consistently and with Excellency, focusing on the present and "what can I teach my client TODAY". Using positive reinforcement controlling strategies, and studying the scientific literature as well as applying the instructions of his supervisors,
Jorge started to notice that this 6 year old boy who never had spoken (even though the client had been on several kinds of therapies and agencies since he was 2 years old) gradually started to communicate effectively first using sign language, then words and then sentences. This same client had severe food refusal where he could not eat a wide variety of foods. Jorge also introduced one food day by day and gradually increased the number of foods and textures and his client now eats almost all kinds of foods. It was then when our CEO decided to pursue a career in ABA and became an assistant behavior analyst (BCaBA) where he conducted quality assurance across staff and clients for 2 years while he worked on his Master degree in Psychology with concentration in ABA.
Once Jorge obtained his master's degree he took and passed the BACB exam the first time and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) since 2013 until now. Jorge then decided to gather a group of therapists who believe the ABA works and there is no limit to progress when we, the clients and the clients' caregivers work hard TODAY in order to significantly improve the clients and their families' quality of life.
